hey, folks --
i’ve finally finished my semi-annual (and, yes, mildly obsessive-compulsive) round-up of performing arts events for the coming season / year. i’ve pored over the calendars of 30+ venues, flagging events of interest, and purchasing a lot of (okay, too many) tickets.
as some of you have thoughtfully suggested, i’m going to experiment with disseminating all that information this year. i’ve yet to figure out exactly how that’s going to work, but, as a start, i’ve created a google calendar to which you’re welcome to subscribe. just e-mail pablo.difuso@gmail.com.
a few caveats:
informational limits: the calendar only shows the range of dates between opening and closing, not specific showtimes. please refer to the url for those (until i find a faster way of pulling all that information).
aesthetic liability: i can’t offer any guarantee that you’ll like these, or even that i will. rather, the events i’ve listed are those that i’m interested in seeing. i haven’t offered much yet on my reasoning, but i’ll try to do so as this project develops. just keep in mind that all is specific to my taste, and you probably have some idea of what that is already.
venue scope: i’ve focused exclusively on performing arts events (and film), largely because they’re ticketed and because tickets go fast here (at least for the good stuff). below is a complete list of the venues i’ve included. i’m happy to add others if you think i’ve missed anything.
as we move through the season, i’ll definitely be adding information (especially in the visual arts) and experimenting with calendar formats (e.g., disaggregating the calendar into genre-specific calendars). i’ll also probably send out the occasional newsletter, so, if you’ve subscribed to the calendar, i’ll assume you won’t mind a few e-mail updates from me (read “implied consent”).
